Brand Love: Weleda

Weleda is a brand that I grew up with. My parents have used Weleda for years, so I have literally been using it since birth. That’s 23 years of Weleda love! They are a company who has been doing it right for 92 years now, and who can do no wrong in my eyes.
I have used everything from their toothpastes to their bath milks, and every product I’ve tried has been a hit.
Weleda products are completely natural, and biodynamic, which is great news for anyone who doesn’t like putting chemicals on their skin.
For those of you who don’t know what biodynamic means, biodynamic agriculture is basically a holistic and sustainable form of organic farming that completely excludes the use of pesticides and any artificial chemicals.  There is a whole lot more to it than that, but I won’t bang on about the farming aspect too much and concentrate on the products. If you want to know more you can check out www.biodynamic.org.uk
Pictured above are just some of the Products I currently keep in my bathroom (a few are in German packaging, but everything can be bought in the UK as well). These were just the ones I could easily spot, there are more hiding in my shower and bathroom drawers.
As you might be able to tell, I rather like their Sea Buckthorn products. Sea Buckthorn really helps heal inflammation and reduce pain, and is great for joints, and while I might be very young, I have actually been experiencing joint pain for as long as I can remember! Can’t wait to be 80… I mostly use the body oil or lotion (which has been rapackaged since I last stocked up) on my legs and knees, as my knees ache, and they are also amazing for dry skin, which is not what we want in the leg department (or anywhere, really). I also keep the hand cream on my desk, because I just love the scent!
I am currently using the Citrus Body Wash in the shower, and it is amazing for morning showers, as it really revitalises you and helps wake you up.
If I want something gentle, I use the Calendula Shampoo and Body Wash, which is actually meant for babies. This is fantastic if you’ve had a reaction to something, have sunburn, or just have sensitive skin in general.
The little bottle pictured is the Pomegranate Body Oil which I actually use on my face from time to time, as it has firming properties, and also accelerates natural skin renewal!
Scent is definitely one of the top things Weleda gets right. Each and every one of their products smells like absolute heaven to me, and in particular the bath milks (which they do in Rosemary, Lavender, Citrus, Pine and Chestnut) just smell like luxury in a bottle. Taking a Weleda bath is one of the most relaxing things you can do. If I’m feeling like a luxury pamper session, I will grab a candle (unscented), and which ever bath milk or oil I am in possession of at the time, and have a nice long soak. Their bath products would definitely make the perfect Mother’s Day gifts, if any of you are stuck for ideas!
They do a range of toothpastes, and although they don’t do mint, which is my preference, I actually love them all. Plus there are actually people out there who don’t like mint toothpaste, or can’t have mint for medical reasons! They do a few plant based ones, and even a salt toothpaste, which is incredible for helping to heal ulcers and general mouth complaints, as well as helping with bad breath. We all already know that salt is very healing, but I will admit it does take a bit of getting used to compared to the others.
They even do a range of Anthroposophic Medicine, to keep you in tip top condition inside AND out. I have already mentioned that I went to a Steiner School in my 25 Random Facts tag, so those of you in the know might already get the connection here and know why I would be inclined towards anything Anthroposophy based, but for those who have absolutely no idea what I’m on about, you can read more about that here. Whatever your thoughts on a holistic approach to medicine may be, their Bumps and Bruises Skin Salve has always really really helped to speed up the healing time whenever I’ve ended up bruised (which is often, because I’m mega clumsy and also bruise like a peach).
They also do skincare, and I used to use their cleanser and toner, before I got sucked into trying out every beauty product under the sun!
I think I have managed successfully incorporate Weleda into every single aspect of my beauty routine, and my life! There are still products that I haven’t tried, but I would love to. I highly recommend giving the brand a try if you are looking for something natural, or just a bit of a luxury at a more affordable price! I still can’t believe how cheap Weleda are for the quality of their products!
Have you ever used anything by Weleda before? What is your favourite product?
PS, I am not being sponsored by Weleda for this post, I just really, really love the brand.
