A couple of months ago I went on a little (or not that little, depending on how honest I’m being with myself about my nail polish addiction) nail polish buying spree, and I picked up the Barry M Gelly polish in Pomegranate, to see what they were all about. This weekend I FINALLY got around to trying it out, and instantly regretted not doing so sooner.

I have to say, I love almost all nail polishes, but this formula has really impressed me. It dries SO fast! I’m talking literally five minutes tops and you can go on with your life. And we all know that waiting for polish to dry can be the bane of our lives, heaven forbid we need to do anything at all for the next hour or two. You THINK it’s dry, but then you knock something and have to spend the next five minutes gently smoothing out a massive bump and trying to coax it back into the shape of a nail. Generally speaking when I decide that I am painting my nails, the rest of my evening is a write off. So I was over the moon when this actually dried, and meant it.

I was also amazed that Pomegranate only required one coat. I have a few polishes I like to call my ‘one coat wonders’, which I go to in times of need when I have somewhere to be and bare nails, and this is definitely going straight on the list. I ran out and bought Grapefruit the next day, because I wanted to be sure it wasn’t too good to be true, and just a fluke of that one colour, and admittedly Grapefruit looks better with two coats, but it dries just as quickly, and two coats is still pretty good going!

They also live up to the ‘hi shine’ claims, although I can never stop myself from adding a top coat anyway, just for longevity purposes.

These polishes have absolutely  got my seal of approval, and I am seriously having to restrain myself from going out and buying every single colour. I have my eye on Prickly Pear, but I’ve already technically broken my January Spending Ban by buying Grapefruit, so it’s going on my wish list for now.

Of course, I couldn’t resist adding some sparkle, so here is a shot of what my nails look like today. I’ve added a coat of Nubar 2010, because I haven’t played with flakies in quite a while. Nubar 2010 is a firm favourite of mine, as you can probably tell from the half empty bottle, and I absolutely love it with pinks.

Have you tried the Barry M Gelly polishes? Which is your favourite shade?
