New Year’s Resolutions
So 2012 has absolutely flown by, and 2013 is upon us already! I hope everybody has a lovely New Year’s Eve whatever you are doing 🙂
I don’t generally make New Year’s Resolutions, because I’m absolutely RUBBISH at keeping them, but this yera I have decided to make an exception. It cannot be denied that I need to exercise self control in certain areas of my life, and I’ve resolved to tackle this, so here goes!
#1 – Eat at least one REAL meal per week
I only have myself to feed, so cooking for one person has proven to be too much fuss, and I have turned to takeaways, noodles, and microwave meals. This is obviously not ideal, and it doesn’t make me feel too great, health wise. Nothing beats a home cooked meal, and I am going to make more of an effort to be healthy at least once a week. I will just have to get more crafty with the leftovers!
#2 – Give myself an allowance, and cut down on my spending
This month has been horrific for over spending, partially due to the fact that I previously owned about one jumper, and it’s been freezing, and partially due to Christmas and far too much time on my hands sat browsing the internet. So starting in January, I’m going to do a budget each month, and only allow myself a certain amount of money to spend on non-essentials. This might mean you’ll be seeing a lot more wish list posts from me in the New Year…
#3 – Keep on top of my tanning reigime
This is a bit of a controversial one, but in the new year I want to keep on top of my trips to Sunseekers. I know, I know, sunbeds are bad for you, I’ve heard every lecture, but I am a firm believer in ‘everything in moderation’. I am not the kind of person who goes every day, and I don’t lie there baking for 15 minutes or anything, but I have found that I benefit greatly from a bit of extra vitamin D. This summer (remember that one week back in May?) while everybody I know literally turned bright red, I didn’t so much as burn once, and I was very thankful for that. I took a break for a couple of months, but now that I’m a different colour to every foundation I own, and I have a birthday trip to Fuertaventura to look forward to at the end of the month, I am resolving to keep on top of it. I don’t need any excuses to buy a new foundation every few weeks!
#4 – Regular trips to the hairdresser
I have been very unhappy with my hair for the past two or three years. A lot of people look absolutely gorgeous with short hair. I am not one of them. I am happiest when my hair is at least past boob length. I have honestly been making myself miserable over my hair’s refusal to grow, and I’m not happy with the way my layers look either, I’d like less going on around my face, and most of my hair the same length, but every time I go to the hairdressers I’ve left it so long that I need loads taking off my layers! So with all this money I’m going to be saving, I have no excuse for not going every 8 weeks. I’m hoping to get my hair back into some kind of shape I can stand by the summer!
#5 – Regular eBay clear outs
I own FAR too many clothes that I no longer like, or that no longer fit me. I have been too lazy to pop them on eBay, but now that I’ve got into taking pictures for my blog, I have no excuse. I’ve actually had wardrobe clear outs, and there is so much stuff just sat in bin bags in the spare room that needs to be sold! I almost took it all to a charity shop in frustration just to get rid of it, but a lot of it is in really good condition, so that just seems silly. I will make it my mission to pop a few things on every few weeks until it’s all gone. Anything that doesn’t sell WILL be going to charity! It’s time to reclaim my wardrobe (or clothes rail, in my case).
So there we have it, my resolutions for the coming year. I think they’re all quite manageable and I should be able to stick to them. Obviously the budgetting is going to be the most difficult, but I am going to do my best!
Do you have any resolutions for 2013? Leave me a comment and let me know!
