I DON’T SEE SO GOOD
Glasses – Firmoo*

I’ve been wearing glasses for a couple of years now. I used to have perfectly good sight, and I mourn the days when I could read the menu in Starbucks without help, but the human body thinks it’s hilarious, and here we are. I have mild astigmatism, and I’m not THAT blind, but my sight is still getting worse, and I definitely feel safer driving with glasses on or contact lenses in.
Finding glasses which suit you is SO important, and when I first started wearing them I hated it. I picked ‘safe’ frames that just didn’t suit me that well, and I never wore them because I hated them so much. I’d only ever wear them in my own bedroom for watching TV or if I had to dash out the door at short notice and didn’t have time to pop in my contacts (let’s face it, contact lenses are great, but it’s not always easy getting them to play nice – twice this week I’ve had to give up on them because they just wouldn’t settle, and I’m hardly a contact lense noob).
As I’ve slowly come to terms with the fact that I’m stuck with bad eyesight, I have started wearing glasses a lot more, and I have a much better idea of what suits me.
So when www.firmoo.com let me pick out a pair of frames, I was really excited to try something a bit different. I went for the slightly larger ‘nerd’ frames, and I have received SO many compliments since I started wearing them. I feel so much more confident, and I think I’ve finally found frames which truly suit me.
Finding glasses which suit me is made even harder by the fact that my head is abnormally narrow. Seriously, I was nearly in tears in the opticians when I first got glasses because everything just looked ridiculous or fell off my ears. The Firmoo website has all of the measurements for each pair of glasses, and I cannot tell you how helpful that was when it came to finding a pair. Ordering things online is always a bit of a gamble, but I was able to get a pretty good idea of what to expect with the help of a tape measure. They also allow you to upload a photo of yourself and virtually ‘try on’ the glasses!
The glasses arrived really quickly, and came with a hard case, a soft pouch, and a set of spare screws and a little tightening tool. I can’t believe I’ve never owned one of these little tools before, it’s so handy! I don’t know whether it’s just my opticians who don’t give you these, but I think all vendors of eyewear should include them by default.
They got my prescription exactly right, and I have had no problems with the glasses having tested them quite thoroughly this week. I am most impressed, as I was a little apprehensive about the whole ‘ordering glasses online’ process in general, which is why I’d never gone down this route before.
Firmoo are currently offering a ‘first pair free’ promotion, so you can pick out a pair of glasses, and all you pay for is the postage! Go to the Firmoo website and check it out here!
