25 Random Facts About Me

1. The name ‘gleepface’ doesn’t actually mean anything. I had to pick a screen name when I was 12 years old, decided that the first random thing that came into my head would do, and it stuck. I couldn’t think of any beauty related blog titles that were unique, and didn’t want to change my twitter, so gleepface.com was born.
2. I really struggle when asked to pick my ‘favourite’ things. If you asked me what my favourite food, film, tv show, genre of music etc was I couldn’t give you an answer because I just love EVERYTHING.
3. From the age of about 5 until I was around 14 years old, I think 75% of my time was spent with my nose in a book.
4. I got every question except one correct on my theory test, and passed my driving test first time, despite doing 30 in a 20 zone. I guess nobody noticed. It still took me the best part of two years to be able to parallel park, though!

5. I love crime TV shows, and reading about serial killers. I just find it fascinating. But then I did REALLY love the Secret Seven when I was a kid, sooo…

6. When I was a little kid I very resolutely decided that purple is my favourite colour, and 4 and 7 are my favourite numbers. I haven’t changed my mind since. I guess I do have SOME favourites.

7. I used to love climbing up everything. I’d climb enormous trees that were hundreds of years old and about 4 stories tall, right to the top, I’d climb up the face of walls if I could, big rocks… anything.
8. I used to keep a diary religiously. I would write down exactly what happened every single day before bed. I even took my diaries on school trips! Risky…
9. I went to a Steiner School (two in fact) and it was definitely the best experience of my life. I loved learning, I even loved maths! I learnt how to make just about everything from a rug, to a sword, to a hut, and I am devastated that when I moved I had to go to a standard shitty High School because the one in my area didn’t go up to my year. I hated High School so much that I just refused to go. My attendance was so ridiculously low it’s a miracle social services weren’t involved. I don’t have the best health in the world, so I think they let me off a bit. The only thing I still enjoyed was English, because I had a good teacher. My lack of showing up did me no harm, however, and I came out of my GCSE’s with As Bs and Cs under my belt (As in English, of course) and didn’t fail anything at all.

10. I love my own space, but I can’t sleep by myself.

11. I’m becoming a bit of a home girl in my ‘old age’, and I don’t really enjoy going out any more. I think I must have got it all out of my system when I was 18 because I’d much rather just sit in the pub with my friends than stick to the floor in some delightful venue full of what appear to be children out on the pull.

12. I have really wide feet, but only at the front, which makes it basically impossible for me to wear heels because my feet fall out at the back. Heeled boots are my saviours.

13. I am really really into trance, dubstep, and drum and bass. I also really like power metal, death metal, and Taylor Swift. And just about everything in between.

14. I crush on girls in films and TV shows way more than I do the hunks. I think this mostly has something to do with the fact that I want to BE these flawless airbrushed creatures.

15. I have three tattoos, and I would absolutely LOVE more, but although I have had an idea in mind for the past 6 years, I also really like to be sure about these things and I would need to get an amazing artist to design and redesign it about 10 times before I would commit to it.

16. I am obsessed with interiors. I used to want to be an interior designer until I realised it would probably involve going to University and things. If I could afford to I would absolutely love to completely redo my entire house.

17. I am a bit of a hoarder, and I am not very tidy, but I HATE mess. I just find it hard to get rid of things.

18. I love Summer. I instantly feel happy when the sun is shining!
19. I always feel like there just aren’t enough hours in the day. I would love nothing more than to be a lady of leisure. Or just have a ridiculously well paid part time job.
20. I was a vegetarian for 8 long years. I must have really confused my mum when I went from loving nothing more than a good steak, to declaring that I wouldn’t eat anything that had once been alive. I’m super glad that phase is over, although 8 years is a pretty long phase.
21. I still get ID’d for the lottery, but I don’t remember the last time I got ID’d for alcohol. It happens all the time and I really don’t understand.

22. When I was 4 years old, I got two kittens for my birthday. One of them sadly passed away just before new year of 2011, but his sister is still with me, and will be 19 on Valentines Day! I really really love cats, and obviously my cats are/were the best cats in the world.

23. Me and my family went on a road trip around Europe when I was in my early teens, and I have also been to pretty much everywhere there is to go in Scotland. I was born in Edinburgh and it’s one of my favourite places.

24. I always need to know everything about everything, and if I don’t have a plan I get really bad anxiety to the point where I can’t eat. It’s a little extreme.

25. The sound of gunfire sends me to sleep. I literally have to fight to stay awake and I rarely manage. This is pretty annoying sometimes, if I find myself nodding off during a film at a particularly action packed scene that I actually really wanted to watch. I do really enjoy taking naps while my boyfriend plays COD, though.

New Blog Design!

As you can probably already tell, my blog has had something of a makeover! I had knocked something together quickly when I first started blogging a couple of months ago, but it was never meant to be permanent, and it was far from perfect.
That is what it looked like before, which definitely did the job until now, but I decided it was time for something a bit NICER looking. I have kept the simple design for the most part, and just jazzed things up a bit, and now we have THIS:
I have added a ‘pin it’ button, which comes up when you hover over any of my pictures within posts, and added some very lovely new social media buttons, which I nabbed for free from Carrie Loves which saved me a bit of time, I had been faffing around making my own for ages before I found these, and they were just so simple and nice, and had all the icons I wanted for free! Perfect.
I have kept my ‘sharing’ widget at the side, but I might get rid of that and add one at the bottom of each post instead, what do you think?
I have also added custom font for the post titles and sidebar titles, to match my header, and I have this tutorial from Kevin & Amanda to thank for that! I think it really ties everything together, and I personally didn’t particularly love any of the fonts within blogger.
I also made a new blog button, so if anybody fancies sharing the love, you can grab that.

Let me know what you think of my new design in the comments!

The Holiday Post

As you probably all saw, Sunday was my Birthday, and this year I decided that I wanted to do something nice for it, so me and the mister jetted off to Fuerteventura on Saturday afternoon. We got a great deal back in November, and I had been looking forward to a bit of sun very much indeed! Since the great British Summer let down of 2012 (especially up North) all I could think about was how badly I wanted to just relax in the sun!
Fuerteventura did not disappoint, and we spent four lovely days chilling out by the pool and on the beach, soaking up some rays. Temperatures were ideal, and Tuesday was 26 degrees! I know this isn’t crazy heat to most people, but it was definitely warm enough, and a far cry better than the slushy snow we left behind.
Now that I am back, having traded sun for rain, bikinis for coats, and flip flops for boots, I wanted to share some of the pictures I took.
I spent my actual Birthday lounging by the pool, I wish I could do this every year!
The next few days were spent at the beach, building sandcastles, sea defences, sunbathing. and swimming in the sea (which was warmer than the pool!). There were some camels there too. Hi camels.
We went all inclusive, so we didn’t really need to buy any food, but I decided that since we were in Spain, I wanted to find some Tapas. I did NOT expect it to be so hard to find Tapas, one day we couldn’t find any at all, so we got delicious enchiliadas and some kind of sandwich instead, which was pretty amazing. The next day we found a place that had Tapas on the menu, but only 4 options, so we decided to get pizzas instead which was also delicious! Where I live we have like 4 Tapas places, I think I might have to go get lunch at one of them before the week is out to satisfy my craving, but the food we did have was still really delicious.
I love flying, especially not the view! Saw two lovely sunsets above the clouds, and I really wish phones were allowed on during landing, as the view of the city as we were flying home yesterday was amazing!
So that was just a very brief recap of what I got up to, hope I didn’t make anybody too jealous, but if it’s any consolation that will probably be the only sun I see all year!
Now that I am back I promise I will get back on with writing all the posts I had thought up before I left. I rather excitingly purchased a DSLR camera today, as I found a really great deal, so hopefully the quality on here will improve in the coming weeks. I know nothing about cameras or lenses though, so there will definitely be a bit of a learning period!. I also plan on using it to film videos as well! Exciting!

Happy Birthday To Me!

As the rather obnoxious pink bubbly font suggests, today is my birthday! I am 23 years young, and happy to have lived another year.
I decided that I wanted to do something memorable this year, and so me and my boyfriend booked ourselves a little holiday to Fuerteventura! Right now I am quite possibly in or around the pool/ocean, so you won’t be seeing anything too exciting from me for a couple of days, I’m just taking the time to chill out, and enjoy myself, having escaped the British ‘winter’ weather.
I have lots of ideas for posts when I return, even a few videos up my sleeve, and I will no doubt put up a little holiday post for you all (I’ll try not to make you too jealous…).
See you next week guys!

What’s on my iPhone?

It is time to talk about one of my favourite possessions  I took so long to jump on the iPhone bandwaggon. I always had good phones, and I had a very decent Android handset before this one, but when the 4S came out, I just couldn’t resist. What I love the most, and the reason I will never go back, is the simplicity. I like everything sleek, and tidy looking, and so it wasn’t long before I’d rooted/jailbroken my old Android handsets and skinned them to perfection, to the point where they practically looked like iPhones anyway. I love this thing, it does everything I could ever need, and it hasn’t bugged out on me yet! So let’s get stuck into how I use it.
First of all, my case was from eBay, and it is the nicest case I have ever seen. This is actually my second one, as they are a bit cheap, and the first one eventually gave up and cracked. I do have a couple of other cases, but I never use them because I love this one so much. My screen protector is from Poundland, and it’s a mirror! This is pretty handy, and I used it as my main handbag mirror before I got a much fancier light up affair from my boyfriend for Christmas, which to be honest is much more effective. This screen will do you in a pinch though!
I’ve never actually seen anyone do a blog post about this before, although I have seen LOTS of YouTube videos about what’s on people’s iPhones, and I love watching them. I would film one myself, my iPhone IS my camera when it comes to filming, so I’d have no way of showing anything! So here are some screen shots instead.

I only have three pages of apps, and I don’t like to put them ALL in folders, because I don’t like the way they look, but I do group certain things.
I have Phone, Messages, Twitter and Music on my little launch area dock thingy, as these are the apps I use the absolute most.
On my first screen, I have things I use on a pretty much daily basis. I have a web folder, with Safari, Chrome (great for viewing full versions of sites), Tumblr, and the Skype app in.  I have the obvious things like Facebook, Instagram, camera etc here too. And the Subway app, because I live off Subway…
Productivity wise, I LOVE lists, so I use the Wunderlist app to death. It’s better for me than the standard iPhone reminders app, because you can have multiple lists, so for example I have one for groceries, one for wish list, one for things to remember to pack for my holiday, etc. I am torn between starting a ‘blog ideas’ list, and actually getting a notebook to carry around with me, but this would be great for just jotting the main idea of a post as it comes to you! I still like to use the reminders app for reminders at a certain time, or location based reminders. For example, I have set myself a reminder for when I go on holiday, to remind my future self where I’ve put my passport so that I don’t panic!
On the next screen are apps I still use regularly, but don’t need to have to hand quite as urgently. I keep things like Netflix (I actually really like the small screen when I’m trying to get to sleep and watching something in bed), mobile banking and app store etc, Moto Deals (which I use every weekend for the Burger King discount), and all of my games!
I used to have a ridiculous amount of games, but I deleted all the ones that I don’t play regularly anymore. Scribblenauts is a lot of fun, you basically create objects by typing their name, and use them to solve puzzles. You can also just play in free mode and create silly things. The objects interact with each other, and you can give them adjectives like ‘pink friendly dinosaur’ or ‘happy purple tall cthulu’. Just about anything, really. It’s quite fun to let your friends play and see what they try to come up with.
Minecraft surely speaks for itself? I wasted (if it even counts as a waste) weeks and weeks of my life on Minecraft on PC when it first came out. Back then I was using Linux as my main operating system, and it was one of the only games I actually played. So many amazing things were built!
Tetris DEFINITELY speaks for itself. Back in the day I was a bit of a Tetris master, and I still like to play it now and then, although touch screen tetris isn’t QUITE as enjoyable. Solitaire is another classic that I have played to death, but always go back to when I need to waste a bit of time. Fruit Ninja is also simple fun!
Pandemic is a game about infecting the world with a virus you create, and you have to race against the countries of the world developing a cure, and use your cunning to go undetected for as long as needed to infect as many as possible. It’s fun. You could play it online long before it was ported to iPhone, here.
Jetpack Joyride is my ultimate obsession, and I have completed all the challenges on it and started again numerous times. I installed it on my boyfriend’s iPad when he first got it, which has kind of ruined the iPhone experience for me as it’s so much easier to play on a bigger screen, but none the less, I still get hooked on collecting coins and doing challenges!
Last up is my photography folder. If you see me adding effects to my Instagram pictures, I will have used one of these.
This last screen really is my least used page, where I chuck stuff like Stocks, my battle.net authenticator, and PayPal instore which is an exciting concept, but has yet to include any stores I can actually visit locally. I also have the Nando’s app, despite living absolutely nowhere near a Nando’s. Sensible.
There is a folder in here for blogging tools, but honestly I am almost always in front of a computer anyway, and if I’m not, chances are I’m up to something which means I am either having a great time and wouldn’t be reading or blogging anyway, or I’m driving somewhere and think getting Siri to write my posts for me is taking things a little bit too far. But they’re there if I ever need them!
Last but not least, here is a picture of my lock screen! Please excuse my messy bed in the background, but this is Kitty, my elderly cat. Her real name is Nela, and she used to have a twin brother, but he sadly died just before new year in 2011, so since then as the only cat of the house she has been referred to as Kitty rather a lot! I’ve had her since I was 4 years old, and she will be 19 on Valentines Day!
Please leave me a link below if you’ve done a post like this, or even a video, as I love seeing what other people use!

Wish List #3 2013 Wish List

I have been meaning to write about the things I want for 2013, and had been putting together a post for a few weeks now. These are all pretty expensive things that I currently do not have the means to just go out and get, so it’s more of a true ‘wish list’ than my usual ones, which let’s face it are more of a future shopping list.
So here goes:
#1 – A damp proof course for my house! Okay so it isn’t really my house, it’s my mother’s house, but we have never had a damp proof course and let’s just say the house is not being used to it’s full potential. I always have such exciting decorating ideas but there’s never any point seeing them through because the risk of damp ruining everything is always there. Damp proof courses are super expensive though, so this may not happen.
#2 – An iPad! I have dearly loved my iPhone since I finally got one, and can never see myself wanting another phone. I am definitely an Apple convert, and ever since my boyfriend got an iPad in the summer, I have been lusting after one. I find so many of the apps I like using infinitely better to use on the iPad than my phone, and I can think of so many uses for it, from watching Netflix in bed, to scribbling out blog posts, to just having with me for amusement. And Jetpack Joyride (it was one of the first apps I ever got on my iPhone, and I LOVE it, but the iPad has totally ruined my playing it on my phone experience!).
#3 – Nice hair again! This is a super old picture of me. I think I was around 15 in that picture. That is the most natural my hair has ever been, and shortly after that I got it cut, and started dying it. I’ve really started to regret that in the past year or two, not because I regret expressing myself with purple hair, but because I have utterly ruined my hair and it hasn’t grown past a certain length ever since. A length that in my opinion I really do not suit. So I am slowly trying to go back to natural hair, at least mostly, and I aim to have hair I love by the summer.
#4 – A watch! Watches look so great on other people, but I haven’t worn one since I was a child because… I still have the wrists of a child. Literally half the bracelets I buy just fall off, and I haven’t been able to find a watch small enough to be comfortable. I want to find one that I really love where I can get the links removed and finally own a watch again. It sounds like a silly thing but I just really want to make the effort. And I have been lusting after the Michael Kors watches for quite some time, just like everybody else on the planet.
#5 – A smile I don’t want to hide! I have probably mentioned how much I hate my teeth before, and how upset I am that I was told they would ‘sort themselves out’ when I was young enough to actually get a brace for free. Now that I am in my twenties, I am more and more miserable about them, and they have not changed one bit. I’d like to get something like invisalign so that I can actually smile in pictures and open my mouth around people other than my cat.
#6 – A designer handbag! I am the kind of person who is actually pretty loyal to a bag. I will buy one I really like, and then wear it until the lining inevitably rips or the handles come off. My current bag is a Marc by Marc Jacobs one which I have had for at least a year, possibly two. I love it very much, but of course the lining has ripped, and I could sew it up, but then it would just rip again somewhere else and I’d end up with a patchwork bag. I do believe that you get what you pay for with a bag, and I’d love to find something I love that will last me. I think it’s a good investment, but not one that I would make lightly, or can afford right now.
#7 – A good DSLR camera. I would really love to not have to spend QUITE so long taking pictures and editing them. That is the main reason I haven’t posted as much as I would like this week, because every time I have tried to take pictures for one of the many posts I currently have planned, it has ended in frustration and giving up. The winter light is mostly to blame, but my camera doesn’t help. I actually paid quite a lot for it a couple of years ago, and was immediately disappointed. But since I’d been using it I didn’t think that I could take it back. I wish I had tried to to be honest, because at the moment I am having to basically lighten every picture I take so that you can actually see what is going on, and the quality is really suffering. I don’t want to post pictures that even I think are bad, so I end up not posting anything at all. I’d also like to have a good camera for when I eventually restart YouTube, just to make life easier (although my iPhone will do for now).
#8 – Lighting! This goes hand in hand with the camera. Obviously if I can take my pictures in the right conditions I won’t need to be lightening them in the first place.
I know this isn’t a top ten, but these were the main things I thought of that I really want. I feel like they might not all happen, but the year is long, and we shall see what happens.
What do you really REALLY want in 2013? Feel free to leave me links to any of your posts on this in the comments, I love reading them.

2012 Highlights

2012 flew by, I know everybody always says so, but things that happened right at the beginning of the year still feel like yesterday – hell, I even get a bit confused about what happened in 2011, thinking it was 2012! It really is true that time goes faster when you get older!
I wanted to throw together my favourite things and times of 2012, to share with you all. I’ll admit that this is going to be a bit of an eclectic mix, but perhaps it will serve as a little ‘insight’ into who I am, beyond glittery nails and a spending problem.
In January I made my boyfriend a Nyan Cat cake for his birthday (fairly obviously pictured above), and it’s probably the coolest thing I’ve ever made in the kitchen. The inside was neon marbling and the icing took me an age and stained my hands blue but I was very proud of it!
I’ve hardly been to any gigs this year, which is something I used to do a lot more, but I did get to go see Andrew WK on his ‘I Get Wet’ anniversary tour in April, which was incredible. I absolutely love Andrew WK, and I don’t think it gets much more party than crowd surfing onto the stage and partying with him in the flesh! It was a really great gig, but I didn’t take any photos to share with you as I was too busy you know, partying. Here is a picture of what happened to my shoes instead. I partied so hard the sole CAME OFF…
I’m gonna go ahead and include one of my favourite songs of his. Potentially not everybody’s cup of tea, but I love it SO MUCH.
Another highlight was summer. Remember summer? It was approximately two weeks long, and it happened in May. Apparently all the lucky southerners got a lot more of it than we did up North, and I spent weeks jealously hating anybody who posted pictures of lovely weather while I stared out the window at the rain. I honestly wish it could be summer for two thirds of the year, I love it so much. I am a very cold person, so I love warm weather and it just generally makes everyone happier, I find. I spent as much time as possible outdoors, or clutching a Starbucks iced beverage of some sort. My friends and I managed to get in a few trips to the river to paddle about and lounge in the sun while it lasted. I can’t wait for our next few hot days, whenever we’re lucky enough to get them!

My 2012 started off in a job I hated, with lots of stress and money problems, and in June, when they wouldn’t give me the time off to go to Download Festival, I decided that it just wasn’t worth making myself unhappy any longer, so I just bit the bullet and handed in my notice. I definitely believe that you shouldn’t compromise yourself and give up on the things you love, and it was a leap of faith that paid off because I managed to bag myself an infinitely better job by believing in myself and not selling myself short. Definitely a highlight. It also meant I could buy a new car, something I desperately needed. I now have a lovely Peugeot 307, with fancy features like doors that actually unlock (my old faithful first car wouldn’t let you in the driver’s side… I had to get in the passenger side and shuffle. Dignified!).
Speaking of Download Festival, that was also definitely a highlight! It rained and rained for the first three days, and I didn’t want to leave my tent! After the blazing heat of Download 2011 I was pretty disappointed, but once the days that actually involved music arrived, it managed to dry up a bit and I got to see Black Sabbath and Metalica for the first time, as well as lots of bands I’ve seen quite a few times but absolutely love live like Megadeth and Devin Townsend. I’m really not one for taking pictures when I’m watching bands, but here is a shot of the fireworks at the end of the Black Sabbath set!
London hosting the Olympics was a pretty big deal, and definitely something that we can be proud of from 2012. There was just so much excitement surrounding it, with the torch making it’s journey around the country. The opening ceremony was absolutely spectacular, and it was probably my favourite bit. I did catch a few actual Olympic sporting events on the telly, gymnastics has always been one of my favourite ones to watch, ever since I was a kid. I also went to school with some people who actually competed for Team GB so it was pretty cool to see what people have managed to achieve! Here is a picture I took of the torch passing through where I live.

Another thing I got excited about in 2013 that might mean nothing whatsoever to a lot of you, was the band Wintersun finally getting around to releasing their much anticipated album ‘Time’. If any of you are into Finnish metal at all you are probably familiar with their self titled album which they released in 2004. It was absolutely amazing and us fans were super hyped when they announced they were releasing a new album. It was supposed to be released in 2006, but it got postponed. And postponed. So. Many. Times. I was supposed to see them live twice, and both times they pulled out to ‘focus on Time’. Nobody believed it was going to happen. Then in October it was actually released! And it was worth the wait. My friends and I practically had a religious experience when we first listened to it through on release date. AND it’s a two parter, so  we get part 2 in 2013 (or maybe 2020, who knows).Okay so the majority of my ‘highlights’ are music related by the looks of things. I’m not gonna lie, Call Me Maybe and Gangnam Style were definitely highlights. I was firmly on team ‘love’ for both of these babies from the start. Being a resident of the internet, I had already come across and become obsessed with them long before they started getting radio airtime, so they perhaps did get a liiiiittle bit overplayed for me, but driving around in the summer with my windows down blasting Call Me Maybe was glorious, and learning the dance for Gangnam Style was practically compulsory.

Starting my blog definitely counts as a highlight of 2012. I’ve always ‘blogged’ in some form or another. When I was younger I had a paper diary that I wrote in every single day, it was for my eyes only of course, and eventually when the internet happened for me properly I got a livejournal account to update life stuff.

I’ve technically had my blogger blog since 2007, but it was only in October of 2012 that I decided to delete everything and start seriously. Having read other people’s beauty, fashion, and lifestyle blogs for many many years, it was something that I’d been wanting to do, and I literally have no idea what took me so long to get round to it. It’s so much fun, and I may not have millions of followers on here, but I really appreciate the little following I have managed to amass. My blog is only three months young, but I really enjoy getting comments and emails from you guys. It’s so great to finally have an outlet for my ‘passion’ for girl stuff, because I find, as I’m sure most of my fellow bloggers do, that most people just don’t care as much as you do, and it can be a bit awkward if you get really enthusiastic about a product that’s just been released, or the hot new fashion trend, and nobody has any idea what you’re on about. We really are lucky to have the internet to bring us all together! So thank you all so much for finding me and sticking about, it really means a lot!

I will definitely be keeping it up in 2013, and I have a few little blogging goals, like getting my hands on some decent equipment (it’s SO frustrating that I want to do more outfit posts, but I’m seriously limited by the camera and lighting I have right now, since I work all day and we have no natural light these days) and possibly putting together a little blogging schedule to add some structure to my blog.

I’d also like to start my YouTube channel up again. I got into it a little bit in 2011/2012, but then stopped because the sound quality on my camera is horrific. I’ve deleted all but one of my videos because I just wasn’t proud of them, and I think I’ll start a brand new channel in 2013. I might just be filming on my iPhone at first, but that really is such an improvement from what I was using before! Let me know if there’s anything you’d particularly like to see, and I’ll start compiling a little list.

I’ve said quite enough words now, so I’ll give your eyes a rest and give my body a rest as it’s 1.30am and I’m up for work at 8am, but if you aren’t done reading yet, you can go read my New Year’s Resolutions. They’re all fairly vacuous and vain, nothing particularly character building or life changing, but I think this makes them pretty easy to stick to. If you do fancy reading something a little more inspiring, I can recommend you go and check out Zoe off of The London Lipgloss’s latest post. It’s really struck a chord with me, because 2012 was about learning to take more risks, and take a plunge, and I really aim to do so even more in 2013! I plan on making my life exactly the life I want, because I believe you can do anything with determination and self belief!

New Year’s Resolutions

So 2012 has absolutely flown by, and 2013 is upon us already! I hope everybody has a lovely New Year’s Eve whatever you are doing 🙂

I don’t generally make New Year’s Resolutions, because I’m absolutely RUBBISH at keeping them, but this yera I have decided to make an exception. It cannot be denied that I need to exercise self control in certain areas of my life, and I’ve resolved to tackle this, so here goes!
#1 – Eat at least one REAL meal per week
I only have myself to feed, so cooking for one person has proven to be too much fuss, and I have turned to takeaways, noodles, and microwave meals. This is obviously not ideal, and it doesn’t make me feel too great, health wise. Nothing beats a home cooked meal, and I am going to make more of an effort to be healthy at least once a week. I will just have to get more crafty with the leftovers!
#2 – Give myself an allowance, and cut down on my spending
This month has been horrific for over spending, partially due to the fact that I previously owned about one jumper, and it’s been freezing, and partially due to Christmas and far too much time on my hands sat browsing the internet. So starting in January, I’m going to do a budget each month, and only allow myself a certain amount of money to spend on non-essentials. This might mean you’ll be seeing a lot more wish list posts from me in the New Year…
#3 – Keep on top of my tanning reigime
This is a bit of a controversial one, but in the new year I want to keep on top of my trips to Sunseekers. I know, I know, sunbeds are bad for you, I’ve heard every lecture, but I am a firm believer in ‘everything in moderation’. I am not the kind of person who goes every day, and I don’t lie there baking for 15 minutes or anything, but I have found that I benefit greatly from a bit of extra vitamin D. This summer (remember that one week back in May?) while everybody I know literally turned bright red, I didn’t so much as burn once, and I was very thankful for that. I took a break for a couple of months, but now that I’m a different colour to every foundation I own, and I have a birthday trip to Fuertaventura to look forward to at the end of the month, I am resolving to keep on top of it. I don’t need any excuses to buy a new foundation every few weeks!
#4 – Regular trips to the hairdresser
I have been very unhappy with my hair for the past two or three years. A lot of people look absolutely gorgeous with short hair. I am not one of them. I am happiest when my hair is at least past boob length. I have honestly been making myself miserable over my hair’s refusal to grow, and I’m not happy with the way my layers look either, I’d like less going on around my face, and most of my hair the same length, but every time I go to the hairdressers I’ve left it so long that I need loads taking off my layers! So with all this money I’m going to be saving, I have no excuse for not going every 8 weeks. I’m hoping to get my hair back into some kind of shape I can stand by the summer!
#5 – Regular eBay clear outs
I own FAR too many clothes that I no longer like, or that no longer fit me. I have been too lazy to pop them on eBay, but now that I’ve got into taking pictures for my blog, I have no excuse. I’ve actually had wardrobe clear outs, and there is so much stuff just sat in bin bags in the spare room that needs to be sold! I almost took it all to a charity shop in frustration just to get rid of it, but a lot of it is in really good condition, so that just seems silly. I will make it my mission to pop a few things on every few weeks until it’s all gone. Anything that doesn’t sell WILL be going to charity! It’s time to reclaim my wardrobe (or clothes rail, in my case).
So there we have it, my resolutions for the coming year. I think they’re all quite manageable and I should be able to stick to them. Obviously the budgetting is going to be the most difficult, but I am going to do my best!
Do you have any resolutions for 2013? Leave me a comment and let me know!
