Ways to Wear White Skinny Jeans

I haven’t done a fashion post in what feels like a long time, so I was really inspired when I was contacted about a ‘Ways To Wear’ opportunity with George. I actually buy a lot of my clothes from George anyway, I find they have just become better and better over the years.
I’d been after a pair of white skinny jeans for a long time, and I had loads of fun picking outfits to team them with. I think white skinny jeans are a real summer style staple – especially if you’re like me, and you tend toward a somewhat monochrome colour palette. They help steer me away from my usual ‘all black’ ensembles for the brighter months, and also work great with a pop of colour.
I have been absolutely wearing these to death ever since I finally got around to taking these outfit shots, and the fear of ruining them subsided. And despite the fact that I should mayyyyybe wait until I’m not so clearly retaining cake before I bust out the crop tops, the jaquard crop has been one of my most worn items these past few weeks – it goes with so many different options!

Upcycled Wooden Jewellery

I was recently contacted by a local company, Bough To Beauty who wanted to see if I fancied blogging about them. They were actually already on my radar, and so I didn’t hesitate because I love what they do!

Bough To Beauty are sisters, who make laser cut wooden jewellery using off cuts of wood which would otherwise be wasted – which is obviously super good for the environment, and the jewellery is just exquisite!

The whole ethos of the company is to be ethical, and environmentally conscious, and I am ALL about that. In an ideal world I would like to build myself an Earth Ship and be completely self sufficient, so I thought it was really cool when they told me they had spent some time living off grid in Portugal! You can read more about them here, but let’s take a look at some of the lovely pieces they very kindly sent me!
The pieces I picked out were the Heart Earrings*, and the Kitty Ring*. The earrings are just the perfect size and I think they really make a plain outfit look a million times more put together – and let’s be real, I pretty much live in all black, plain outfits.
The Kitty Ring is just too cute! I’m a total crazy cat lady and I couldn’t resist. It’s great because it’s adjustable, and it’s also great because it’s a cat, and… cats!
I also really loved the packaging! Recycled cardboard, with their simple but lovely logo on.
You can check out their website here, or their Etsy Shop here – they have some really cool pieces! Leave me a comment if you end up picking anything up!

Chase & Status, Sigma, Kove – Outfit

Crop Top – Boohoo
Tartan/Plaid Leggings – Topshop
Shoes – Sainsbury’s

At the beginning of the month I went to see Chase & Status, Sigma, and Kove in Leeds which was a really great night. I’ve seen Chase & Status more times than I can count now, but it’s always worth going! I’m really into Kove at the moment, and I’d seen him with Chase & Status a few months back so I knew I was going to really enjoy it, and it was pretty cool to be able to catch Sigma for the first time too.I dressed quite simply because I knew that I was going to get really hot dancing all night, and I also wanted to wear flat shoes so I would be comfortable until the early hours. I wore this great cross over crop top from boohoo.com with these green plaid/tartan leggings I got from Topshop quite a while ago now and I know I’ve featured them in an outfit before. For footwear I wore this great pumps from Sainsbury’s! I picked these up because even though I already have a pair of Vans, and some plain pumps from New Look and really didn’t need another pair I really loved the gold zip details (totally not functional zips btw, all for show).

I had such a great time with my friends and it was really nice to have the opportunity to just dance the night away again after Creamfields as I don’t really go out much in my home town.

Jewellery Wish List

Thomas Sabo Rebel at Heart RingVivienne Westwood PendantThomas Sabo Glam and Soul Rose Gold RingMichael Kors Mini Bradshaw Rose Gold WatchCurbbz Black + Rose Gold BraceletLinks of London Skull Friendship Bracelet

Accessories are something which I really don’t update often enough. You may notice that in my outfit posts that I wear the same gold studded bracelet or watch in every single outfit. I guess I’m stuck in a rut. This isn’t anything new, I get stuck in various ruts when it comes to accessorizing. I started a series of posts called ‘What’s on my Wrists’ to try and break out of my funk which you can read here and you can see that I definitely have a specific style of jewellery that I go for. I like gold, I like black, and I like my jewellery chunky.
I’ve been trying to inspire myself again recently, and I thought it would be a good idea to have a browse for inspiration. Silver Tree Jewellery is a jewellery shop in the town where I live, and it’s sort of the ultimate ‘if I had the money’ shop to browse.
They stock a couple of my biggest ever lust after items – namely the Michael Kors Rose Gold Mini Bradshaw watch, and the Vivienne Westwood pendant – and also some things I didn’t know I wanted until I had a browse, like the statement rings, and the chunky and very ‘me’ Curbbz bracelets (although I’m not sure about the name… but they are definitely a trend I can get behind, having totally passed on the whole charm bracelet thing).
Now is a really good time to start making wish lists, because it’s now officially Autumn, and therefore nearly Christmas, and therefore hint dropping time. It’s also nice to have wish lists to have something to aim for as treats for yourself for reaching goals and milestones. At least that’s what I tell myself. I think what creating this wish list has really taught me is that I have a thing for Thomas Sabo, and I need a better paid job.

Galaxy Prints & Unicycles

Galaxy Skirt – Topshop (old – try eBay)
Crop Top – New Look
Chelsea Boots – New Look
Studded Bag – Matalan (old)
Jewelry – Accessorize & Topshop
Nails – See here

I went to Manchester this weekend to visit my friend who has recently moved there – her and her flatmates have the cutest little flat! She gifted me this Topshop galaxy print skirt and I am in love with it. Galaxy print has always been a huge favourite of mine. I almost feel bad blogging about it, but you can find it on eBay, and there are similar none Topshop versions out there!
One of her flatmates has a unicycle, and I haven’t ridden one in around 10 years (I legit learnt to unicycle at school!) but turns out I can still totally do it! Didn’t quite dare do it without support as I’d had a few drinks, and I was in heels and a skirt, but it was such fun!

Lake Komo

Crop Tee – Topshop
Joni Jeans – Topshop
Boots – New Look
Tattoo Choker – Totnes high street in the mid ninties…

This is an outfit from last week, from when I went to see one of our finest local bands Lake Komo playing.
My disco pants have recently died a death, and I am truly devastated. I am still considering buying a new pair, but at half the price, I thought I’d pick up some high waisted jeans for now. I got the Topshop Joni jeans and they are pretty comfortable, but not nearly as flattering as my beloved AA Discos. I haven’t worn jeans in about five years so it’s kinda new territory for me. Am I the only person who is out of their comfort zone in jeans?
I’ve also been busting out the old school tattoo chokers in recent months, ever since certain celebs “brought them back”. I literally still had all my old ones from when I was a kid sitting in a drawer so I dug them out and I have loads of them… I may have been a little obsessed back in the day.
Lake Komo are definitely worth checking out, they’re the kind of local band that you don’t just go see because you’re mates with them and you’d feel bad if nobody showed up, they’re actually really talented and have a loyal fanbase. They’re an awesome foursome and last Friday’s gig was definitely a success. The venue was packed, with everybody there singing all the words and a serious encore chant at the end. I see big things for these guys, and I always have their tunes stuck in my head! If you are going to Bestival definitely go and see them if you can, as they will be playing the BBC Introducing stage!

Leather & Plaid

Plaid/Checkered Shirt – Topshop
Leather Shorts – Topshop
Chelsea Boots – New Look

I won’t lie, outfit posts are still a bit of a learning curve for me, and I find it hella awks posing for the camera but hopefully I will get there with time because fashion posts are definitely one of my favourites to read, along with lifestyle snippets.
This is an outfit I wear quite a lot at the moment, I picked up the leather shorts and the plaid shirt back when Grazia were doing the amazing vouchers (did anyone manage to snap up a £250 one??) and I love wearing them together. I’ve also taken to putting on a cheap Primark beanie to cover my roots because I can’t afford to get them done right now and it’s getting a little bit out of hand.
My beloved Asos chelsea boots literally disintegrated off my feet earlier this year (it was traumatic, seriously) and I finally got around to replacing them! New Look can always be counted on for affordable footwear and these are just as comfy to walk in as my old ones were.
Photos taken in my jungle garden, I thought it made for quite interesting scenery as I don’t have anybody to help me with pictures yet, nor do I have the courage to take to the streets!
